About Us

The California Forward Action Fund’s mission is to improve the quality of life for all Californians by creating more responsive, representative and cost-effective government.

The California Forward Action Fund works with our sister organization, California Forward, to identify reforms that can allow our state to fundamentally change how public dollars are spent, and give Californians better tools to hold politicians accountable. The California Forward Action Fund then pursues reform priorities through legislation or ballot initiatives with the goal of producing real change to the state’s political, fiscal, and policy-making systems.

In 2008, Californians passed Prop. 11 to put voters in charge of how political districts are drawn and make government more open and responsive. In 2010 we want to overhaul the state’s budget process and start giving local governments the freedom to pursue policies that promote vibrant, healthy communities and restore California’s position as a world economic and innovation leader. Currently working to build a non-partisan, statewide coalition of partners in support of our reform plan, which we are pressing the legislature to put on the 2010 ballot for voters to consider this November.

The Action Fund is tax-exempt under Sec. 501(c)4 of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the California Forward Action Fund are not deductible as charitable contributions.

It’s very clear that we’re held hostage by the extremes of both, the far right and the far left and there is no compromise there.
